SURPRISE!

DSCN7974

One of the things that I both LOVE and DREAD at the end of a Long, Slow Run; is the prospect of taking a shower.

When I run 5-10K’s, a shower was always a welcome treat. It’s a time to refresh and get the salt and grime that have accumulated on my skin.

However, when my program entailed running more than 12Ks twice a week. More often than not, I actually brace myself when I turn the water on in the shower. Specially, if it was more than a 15K run. Almost everytime, I get a SURPRISE! A stinging pain that jolts you like a thunderbolt  somewhere EVERYTIME.

I cringe in pain when the water starts running. Part of me wants to whine and let out a scream. But tough people that we are. I take the pain in, like a man.

I had the same exact experience everytime I run >10k. I think I know what you mean and I know what you need.

It’s either petroleum jelly or surgical tape. ;-)

chafing? before your next race, apply petroleum jelly or body glide on the parts of your body where you feel pain when you take a bath after a road race.

i just experienced this underneath my arm after the qcim last sunday. i guess it was rubbing onto the nb singlet i was wearing and i never noticed until after the race. it was painful and my friend told me to apply petroleum jelly over it, which i did. it left a scar now but no more stinging pain. :)

do you shower using hot or cold water? how long after a run before you shower? wouldn’t it be better if you took a bath or a dip in a pool instead of a shower since it will hit you in the wrong places.

btw, what is your mobile number, the number i have for you since we met is no longer yours so to say. a different person answers the text messages i send.

hope you are doing well and fighting that virus whatever it is.
